Adult Faith Formation

The role of a parish can be expressed in a common formula:   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it year of_faith

  • We are to preach the WORD of God and proclaim the Kingdom.
  • We are to WORSHIP the Father with Christ and grow in our prayer life.
  • We are to carry on the WORKS of Mercy serving the poor in our daily lives.
  • We do this as CKTOLEDO.ORG, a faith filled community of believers, gathered around  Christ, taught and sent!

During this Year of Faith Christ the King Parish is able to offer a variety of experiences that help the adults in the community grow in their faith and in their relationship with God. There are opportunities for individuals, for couples, and for the community. Each week many take part in Pastoral Counseling sessions and Spiritual Direction. All are invited to take part in bible and prayer classes, marriage sessions, bereavement meetings, luncheon seminars, Blood Drives, Wisdom Workshops, Evening Prayer, Prayer groups, and sacramental preparation classes. Weekly bulletins and websites remind the parish of great events taking place in our parish and in our area.

Here are a few ways for you to try to take another step in your faith life, which one works for you?

Study of the 4 Constitutions of Vatican II

Pope Benedict has called for the study of the documents of Vatican II.  How was the Holy Spirit shaping the Church during the Council? Bishops from all over the world gathered to share their insights and concerns for the future of the church. 4 Constitutions, 9 Decrees and 3 Declarations were written under the guidance of the Spirit. It is up to the Church to discern their message and implement them in our local churches. We will be studying the 4 Constitutions from September 2012 to March 2013. Contact your facilitator for more information.

Monday Evenings    7:00 PM - 8:30 PM in the Parish Center - Facilitator: Fr. Dominic Savyo

Christ the King Young Adult Faith Sharing Group

Year of Faith: Deepening our Faith through Revisiting the Documents of Vatican II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church

Themes:

  • Growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ through a deeper knowledge and experience of our Catholic faith
  • The “New Evangelization”

A major goal for the year will be to explore and discuss our Catholic faith for personal enrichment and also as a form of service to others. By exploring the actual teachings of the Catholic Church (through Vatican II and the Catechism) we will better be able to explain and even live the faith with our family, friends, co-workers, and our various Christian and non-Christian neighbors. The teachings of the Church will also serve as a “spring-board” to share our own blessings and challenges.

Our first meeting will be on Thursday Oct. 11th (the inaugural day of the Year of Faith) at 7:00 PM in the Parish Office Conference Room. We will get to know each other and discuss themes of the Year of Faith. This group is for Young Adults (age 18-35). Singles, couples, and parents are welcome. For parents this will be an opportunity to learn more about our faith in order to teach/pass along to your children.
