Care Packages Distributed to Needy |
|
As part of an annual tradition at Christ the King Church, parishioners were asked to fill bags with toiletry items to be given away at the annual free dinner served on Thanksgiving Day. Religious Education program students sorted the items and ensured the bags were filled with all of the items requested. A total of 486 bags were put together. 260 were distributed on Thanksgiving Day. The bags will be distributed again at the Epiphany Dinner on Sunday, January 3, 2010, 1:00-3:00 p.m. Any remaining items will be distributed to other community service agencies.
Care packages include the following items: Wash Cloth Shampoo Bar of Soap Comb Roll-on or Stick Deodorant Floss Toothbrush Tube of Toothpaste Shaving Foam Tissues (small package) Two Disposable Razors Chapstick (or hand lotion)
Coordinator Sandi Trabbic said, "The bags help with items needed for everyday living that cannot be purchased with food stamps." She added, "the more bags we collect, the more people we can help." This year's response was record-setting. Anyone interested may still participate by e-mailing Sandi Trabbic, or calling her at 419-475-4348, ext. 131.

Students in Christ the King's Religious Education Program worked to check and fill care packages with toiletry items in time for the parish's annual holiday dinners. Parishioners returned enough items to fill 468 packages. |
