CK Bids Farewell to Fr. Mike & Fr. Tommy |

On Sunday, June 29, our parish said "Thank you and God bless you" to our Pastor of nine years, Father Mike Brown and also to Associate Pastor, Father Tommy Rodrigues who had been with us for about two years. The two priests bade farewell to Christ the King parish over the weekend before taking the position of pastor at St. Clement's for Father Mike and pastor of St. Bernard, New Washington for Father Tommy.

All those who attended the weekend masses were noticeably moved by Fr. Mike's farewell talk at all six masses, as he expressed his thanks and affection for our parishioners. It was moving for him also.
When approximately three hundred people gathered in the Basil Goes Activities Building for the reception following the 6:00 mass on Sunday, we were greeted with harp and guitar music and the wonderful sight of Mary Noggle's wide variety of refreshments.
When Father Mike made his appearance he was immediately surrounded by parishioners of all ages, with shows of affection and good wishes. This continued for the entire evening. In the meantime, Father Tommy circulated, being greeted by the people while flashing his infectious smile.
A variety of emotions were expressed in Christ the King parish that weekend — regret because our two priests were leaving for other assignments; mutual love, respect and gratitude between the priests and parishioners ; and a sense of community as we socialized with each other at the reception.
To say the weekend was a success is putting it mildly, as was shown by Father Mike who was still standing and gratefully smiling when the last well-wishers left about 9:00.
