If you have been listening to the news media or reading the Toledo Blade, or if you heard the Bishop's message of a couple of weeks ago, you are aware that Catholic schools in the Toledo Diocese have been losing students over the past several years. Christ the King School has lost students over the last couple of years as well, however, we seem to be faring better than some of our neighbors. St. Clement School will be consolidating with St. Catherine and will close at the end of this school year. Little Flower School and Our Lady of Lourdes School are merging for the coming year.
Of course, we are all sad to hear of these plans and we pray that the families settle easily into their new schools.
Although merging or consolidating is not on the horizon for Christ the King School in the near-or even far-future, we'd like to encourage new families to join us.
On Sunday, March 7, we will host our annual Open House from 11:00 until 1:00. You may have friends with children who attend other schools who may be looking for a new school. Please invite and encourage them to visit us on Open House day. Please tell them about the community of Christ the King, about our faith-filled academics and how we practice our faith at Christ the King School, about our outstanding academic program, about our exceptional athletic program.
In particular, please spread the good word to families with preschool and kindergarten children. It's always best to have children begin and end at the same school. Of course, as many of you have already experienced, Christ the King welcomes families with children of any age and as a community, I can assure you, we do a fine job of making new families and students feel welcome.
Please feel free to pass the Open House flyer to your friends and neighbors. I appreciate your help in keeping Christ the King School strong!
