Christ the King served 130 dinners on Epiphany Sunday, January 3, despite a lack of water and a closed Harvest Lane. In addition to the meal, coats, gloves, hats, and toiletries were distributed to those in need.

Plan B: Carry Out Dinners
Volunteers served up hot food to hungry guests at the 20th Epiphany Dinner. A water main break nearly disrupted plans, but a resourceful kitchen crew had nearly everything prepared for the expected guests. Only carry-out service was available since dishwashing and restroom facilities was unavailable.

Stay Warm in the Cold
Winter Gear was given to anyone who wanted it thanks to the knitters of the Prayer Blanket Ministry who made hats and scarves for the Epiphany Dinner. Christ the King Girl Scouts collected coats from parishioners and school families to distribute at the dinner. Any remaining coats, hats, and scarves were donated to the St. Patrick Historic Church outreach program.
Volunteers from both groups staffed tables to assist guests with selections of handmade hats and scarves and gently used coats, as well as distributing care packages of toiletries prepared by the Religious Education Program.

Heroes of the Day Anita Hanus gives Don Czerniak a big hug after he told her the water was back on. Don was on the city crew that repaired the water line. No water? No problem! Anita's prep work with Ed Urbain on Saturday saved the day as everything was ready to cook. The only cooking water still needed was to boil spaghetti noodles. Water from the Parish Center served that purpose as it was the only building unaffected. Water was restored in time to at least pre-wash the pots and pans, although extra sanitizing steps had to be taken.
