Parish nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that focuses on the promotion of health and care-giving within the context of the values, beliefs, and practices of a faith community, such as our Christ the King parish. Health is not only viewed as an absence of disease, but also as a sense of being in harmony with self, others, the environment, and God. Healing is promoted by integrating the body, mind, and spirit to create wholeness, health, and a sense of well-being, even when curing may not occur.
His divine power has given us everything we need. 2 Peter: 1:3
The following programs offer you specific opportunities to meet other parishioners and to be a part of what our Lord calls us to be. Contact Mrs. Terry McKown, the Parish Nurse at 419-475-4348 ext. 112 for details.
Integrator of Faith and Health
The parish nurse ministry encourages higher levels of wellness by supporting both spiritual and physical health. One way of accomplishing this goal is through the Eucharistic Ministers for Homebound program. Members make home visits, weekly and bi-weekly, bringing the Christ the King community to those who are unable to attend mass.
American Red Cross Blood Drive
Our Christ the King parish family joins together twice during the year to donate blood to the Red Cross. Your one unit of blood can be used to save three lives. Blood cannot be manufactured; it can only come from generous blood donors.

Today and Beyond Bereavement Support Group
The Bereavement Support Group meets at Christ the King in the Parish Center Meeting Room on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM. No registration is required
We acknowledge that grief forever changes or transforms a mourner’s world view. Group facilitators take on the role of “companion” during an evening of discussion. Participants gain a clearer understanding of their grief and are affirmed in their experiences as they integrate loss into their lives.
Prayer Blanket Ministry
If you knit or crochet, or would like to learn, we invite you to join this group of church women who pray over each item they weave together. Our projects include Prayer Shawls for “Baskets of Care”, Infant Hats and Blankets for “The Ronald McDonald House”, Hats and Scarves for those in need at our Thanksgiving Day Dinner. The yarn for these projects is donated through the parish.
Martha’s Meals Funeral Lunch Ministry
St. Luke’s story of Mary’s heart and Martha’s hospitality to our Lord reminds us of the need to minister to our parishioners. Initiated in January 2009, our funeral lunch program consists of 125 women and men. The teams prepare food dishes and serve the funeral lunch at a minimal cost and with utmost care and concern for our bereaved families following the Mass of Christian Burial. Consider joining Martha's Meals and share in the agape love and healing it brings to our Christ the King parishioners who have suffered the death of a loved one.
