My Little Rules 9-7-2008

Recently at dinner, Mom asked me a question regarding when a religious holiday was going to take place. I couldn’t recall the exact day. Going into the dining room, Mom came back with the prayer book she carried on her wedding day, complete with matching lace and three black prayer books. Mom had saved the prayer books Jim, Turtle and I carried to church every Sunday.

Asking God for Help 8-31-2008
One day a small boy was trying to lift a heavy stone, but he couldn’t budge it. His father stopped to watch his efforts. Finally he said to his son: “Are you using all your strength?”

“Yes, I am,” the boy cried, exasperated.

“No,” the father said calmly, “You’re not. You haven’t asked me to help you.”

Pastor's Letter August 17, 2008

A man owned a very proud, handsome horse and an ugly, broken down donkey.   One day the three set out on a long journey.   The man placed the full burden of carrying the supplies on the back of the donkey.  The burden weakened the donkey so much that it could move only with great difficulty.

Pastor's Letter August 10, 2008

Last week, Randy Pausch died at the age of 47 from pancreatic cancer. You may have seen him on Oprah where he reenacted his last lecture from Carnegie Mellon or read his book entitled The Last Lecture.  I received his book as a going away gift and once I began to read, it was tough to put down.   Pausch’s story is phenomenal.
