With the writing of this column, Fr. Dominic and I have completed our first month at Christ the King. We’d like to thank you for your continued welcome, frequent introductions and patience while we all get acquainted with each other. We both feel fortunate to be here and that’s because of your continued support and prayers.

Has a book title ever grabbed your attention? Wherever you saw it, you pulled it off the shelf and perused its pages. “What’s Worth Knowing” is one such book. The author collected its stories from elderly folks living in nursing homes.

This May, I participated in my fifth consecutive Indianapolis Half Marathon. What an experience and thrill to cross the finish line! Every time I’ve crossed the line the words, “There is a God” seem to naturally fall from my mouth.

The Diocese of Toledo requested a priest from my Archdiocese and my Major Archbishop sent me over here from India last September. I have been for the last 10 months at St. Patrick’s Old Historic Church, Down Town. They welcomed me, provided me everything required, and trained me well to work in this diocese. I am grateful to all of them. Last month, on a Friday evening, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Billian called and told me over phone “you will be an associate to Fr. Bill Rose at Christ the King Church from July 1st and onwards.” I was so happy to hear such good news. I enjoy being here with you and helping Fr. Bill Rose, my young Pastor.

Pastor's Letter July 7, 2008 |
Eighteen years ago, I left Toledo and headed to Cincinnati to begin my theology studies. Since then, I haven’t lived in Toledo for any great length of time. It is good to be here at Christ the King and be home again.
I would like to use this column to introduce myself. I am 41 and recently celebrated the 12th anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood. During that time I have had three assignments; each lasting four years. At St. Mary’s in Tiffin and St. Charles in Lima I filled associate pastor roles. In July of 2004, Bishop Blair appointed me pastor of twinned parishes, St. Rose and St. John’s in Lima. This presented the challenge of blending two parishes - an older sister and younger brother who had to learn to work together! A parent's dream (or nightmare) and a young pastor’s goal - but we did it.
