Opportunities Abound 9-29-2008 |
|
It’s hard to believe we’re already at the end of September! Numerous ministries here at the parish are in full swing and continue to thrive. Please be sure to take full advantage of these wonderful opportunities. Also, thank you to everyone for your participation and stewardship! I’d also like to update you on a few happenings around the parish.
• I’ve learned a great deal from priest mentors of mine over the years. One pastor I served with taught me to let the people know how the parish is doing, no different than parents telling their children how the family is doing. At all of the Masses during the weekend of October 4th & 5th, I’ll be presenting you with a report on Christ the King regarding matters spiritual, financial and educational.
• In May, Fr. Brown and I met to briefly discuss the “Envisioning our Future” campaign that many parishioners have been actively involved with for several months. I’ll be sending a letter to you with updated information and including within that correspondence the results of our parish festival. When the letter arrives, please take the time to read it carefully.
• I need your help! Please consider being a volunteer for a new ministry here at Christ the King – Sacristans. The responsibilities include arriving for Mass at least 20 minutes early, setting up for liturgies, making sure ministries are covered and staying a few minutes after Mass. If you are interested, call (419.475.4348) or email me or Kathy Mumy. We’ll gladly answer any questions you may have regarding this ministry.
• Congratulations to our Christ the King students who did an outstanding job on their recent magazine drive. Students sold $6,000 dollars more than last year! Thanks to LuAnn Fraley who sought me out; but be sure to get Fr. Dominic next year!
• Thanks also to everyone who participated in The Main Event last weekend. It was truly an enjoyable evening and the planning committee did a fantastic job! All of the proceeds will go towards tuition assistance. Again, Fr. Dominic and I are truly grateful to be your priests. Through your support and prayers we are feeling more at home each and every day. Although, I do have to dispel a rumor about me moonlighting as an auctioneer after our recent Main Event! It was strictly a one time occurrence!
Have a great week!
Love, Fr. Bill
