Pastor's Letter August 3, 2008

With the writing of this column, Fr. Dominic and I have completed our first month at Christ the King.  We’d like to thank you for your continued welcome, frequent introductions and patience while we all get acquainted with each other. We both feel fortunate to be here and that’s because of your continued support and prayers.

During this past month, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with numerous councils in the parish as I try to get a feel for the culture of Christ the King.  A common theme in every meeting was a desire to know more about what is happening in the parish. Therefore, I’d like to use this column to update you on a few happenings in our community.

In a few weeks, the parish will launch a new web site.  Several parishioners have already reviewed the content.  I will let you know when the new site goes live.

Beginning the first weekend of September there will be an extra page in our bulletin containing updates from the staff. This information about programs, ministries and events around our parish is intended to help you plan your schedule and encourage everyone to be more active in parish life.

Several people stopped me after Mass and said, “I didn’t get an email from you regarding the man on his bicycle.”   If by chance you didn’t get an email last Monday, July 21st, we may not have your email in our parish database program or we could have an outdated email address. If you are not a registered parishioner at Christ the King, this would be a perfect opportunity to join the parish. In any case, contact Karen Mercurio, Parish Registrar ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) to update our records.  Please include whether you are updating your information or need to register.  We understand not everyone has a computer so we’ll do our best to put all correspondence in the parish bulletin.

Also, if someone from your family is going to be in the hospital, please be sure to notify the parish office so we can visit.  Have a great week!

 Love, Fr. Bill

P.S.   This past weekend I went through a tutorial of how to distribute Holy Communion to the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.   Evidently I have been causing a bit of confusion.   Sorry – thanks for being patient with me.
