Update on What is Happening 11-30-2008

It doesn’t seem possible that it is the First Sunday of Advent already! Where does the time go? I would like to take this opportunity to update you on happenings at Christ the King.

If you haven’t received a Christmas letter, Advent & Christmas liturgical schedule and Flower Fund Envelope, it should be arriving shortly in the mail. Please be sure to place the calendar on your bulletin board or refrigerator so your family may take advantage of the liturgical opportunities during the next few weeks. Also, please be aware that there will be only two Masses on Christmas Day, 9 a.m. & 11 a.m. Staff members noted the three Masses could easily fit into two and I took their recommendation.

As a means of evangelizing, trying to engage Catholics looking for a parish and those wanting to return to church, Christ the King will be advertising our Christmas Mass schedule. Jim Hutelmyer, a retired marketing executive living in Arizona, has designed an ad which will appear in The Toledo Blade. We’ll also be advertising for our school Open House on March 1. 2009. I met Jim while on retreat five years ago, and he graciously donates his time; it is his way of giving back to the Catholic Church for the many blessings in his life.

The Christ the King newsletter will arrive in your mailboxes next week (inside The Catholic Chronicle). Take time to read the articles and learn what has happened in the parish, who has joined, the little ones who were baptized and of course the souls we lost. If you have any suggestions for the newsletter, be sure to email your ideas.

If you ever need a bulletin, want to know what is happening; be sure to go to our new website at www.cktoledo.org.

Thank you to all who helped put on the Christ the King brunch after our feast day and to those who donated their time in cooking, serving and assisting in anyway for the Thanksgiving Day dinner. What a marvelous example of stewardship!

Lastly, the Parish Appreciation Party will be on December 6th after the 7 p.m. Mass. Be sure to mark your calendar and RSVP. Since many of you have asked about Fr. Dominic’s new toys- speakers, amplifier, microphone and keyboards- I think it only fitting that all of YOU experience his talents just like I have at the rectory. He’ll do a marvelous job, I’m sure! After all, if he can learn the Hokie Pokie, surely he can learn a few Christmas Carols. Have a great week & thanks for all you do for the parish.

Love, Fr. Bill
