Community Outreach

Christ the King Assistance Fund

Outreach toward the poor and underprivileged was a major part of Jesus' ministry; so is too that of a true Christian. This organization helps those in material need--often providing food and clothing. Parishioners are encouraged to get involved and to contribute to our monthly collection. Meetings are held according to need.  For more information, contact the Parish Office at 419-475-4348.

Dinners for Those in Need

At Thanksgiving and Easter meals are served for anyone who has a need for companionship or food.

Martha's Meals Funeral Lunch Ministry

St. Luke’s story of Mary’s heart and Martha’s hospitality to our Lord reminds us of the need to minister to our parishioners. Initiated in January 2009, the Funeral Lunch Program consists of 150 women and men who prepare food dishes; serve the funeral lunch at a minimal cost; and with the utmost care and concern for our bereaved families following the Mass of Christian Burial. Consider joining Martha’s Meals to share in the agape love and healing it brings to our Christ the King parishioners who have suffered the death of a loved one.

Prayer Blanket Ministry

If you knit,  crochet, or would like to learn, we invite you to join this group of women who pray over each item they weave together. Two annual projects are provided:
  • Hats and scarves for people in need at the Christ the King Thanksgiving Day Dinner
  • Infant and youth Baptismal Shawls throughout the year
The yarn for all projects is donated through the parish.

Christmas Giving Tree

Every Advent our parishioners reach out to people and families who need help in making their Feast of Christmas special. The Giving Tree is set up in November.  Individuals can purchase the requested items which are wrapped, labeled, and returned to the Parish Office. When all gifts are collected, they are sorted and delivered to the Catholic Diocese who then distributes the presents. Deadline date is listed in our bulletin
